| Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Christmas is a little bit different this year. It's my "turn" to stay in Galesburg over Christmas break. Rachel worked overnight and got home around 7:30 this morning. This is our first Christmas without other family members and to tell you the truth, it kind of just feels like every other morning....
I think we are going to exchange gifts once she gets up and she made a nice breakfast casserole as well! We'll read the Christmas story and probably call our families. Later, we'll have dinner with a very kind family from our church. It's just kind of different celebrating away from our families. There aren't any traditions to uphold, no Christmas Eve anticipation, no dragging Caleb out of bed while Leah nearly wets herself with excitement, no driving to Grandma Dorie's house - All we have is our love for one another and the reminder of a God who sent His Son so that we might have life with Him.
I think it'll be a great Christmas!

| Hey guys,
I'm having a great time up in Wisconsin with the in-laws. It's been great to spend time with family and getting away from the everyday cycle that I fall into so regularly. That's probably what I've been thinking about most lately. On Friday, I worked out at "the Y" with Lizzy. Saturday I went cross-country skiing for 2.5 miles. Yesterday I played 3 hours of snow football. And this morning I worked out with Lizzy again (looks like we may go CC Skiing this afternoon). Although I'm WAY out of shape, I feel great!
I don't want to make a "new year's resolution" because they are far too easy to break. I want to make a covenant to God... He has blessed my life with a perfectly healthy body and I need to honor Him by staying in shape. I'm getting a Y membership once we get back! I'll go to bed sooner and get up earlier if that's what it takes...
And if God has called me to be physically fit, has He not called me to be spiritually fit all the more? Let me ponder that for a few days while y'all do the same...
God Bless, Pastor Jake

| Hey y'all,
We are vacationing up in Wisconsin. It's good to spend some time away from Galesburg and hanging out with Rachel's family. Thanks to Keira, Brianna, Tyler, Brent, & Ethan for watching the pets while we're gone! Today I went to school with Rachel's dad to run the sound system for his Christmas Concert. He's an elementary music teacher and a very good one at that. It reminds me of the great times with Mrs. Sletto...
The other day we had a 'big idea' or 'vision' meeting with our pastoral staff (all 3 of us). We spent the entire day in Peoria at a Panera Bread. Several great things came from this meeting and it was good to take some time to try and define where the Lord is leading, us as a church, and how He is growing us, as Pastors, to realize that vision. During the course of the day, I realized that I'm not very good at setting goals. Honestly, it's that I don't really dream very much. I need to seek the Lord and His vision to help me strive for greater things. Once we get a goal, I am great at seeing the steps and tasks to accomplish that goal (I think in outline form), but I'm missing the vision.
Well, I've secluded myself from the in-laws for long enough and it is just a matter of time until someone comes looking for me. May the Lord richly bless you and your families, Xanga! Until next time...

| I very seriously doubt if anyone even reads this anymore, but that is almost kind of the point... My mom and grandma probably still get the emails, so HI MOM & GRANDMA!
Anyhow, I need a place where I can put down some of my thoughts. There aren't very many, and they certainly aren't worth much, but I need this, nonetheless. I figured that Xanga might be safe because there probably aren't many people still checking this out.
So, let's start with a moment to catch up... Rachel & I are coming up on our 2 1/2 year anniversary. We now live in Galesburg, IL where I am an Associate Pastor of Worship & Discipleship while she works nights at the hospital on the Psych unit. We have little frustrations here and there, but we are ultimately happy, knowing that this is where the Lord has for us right now. We live in a beautiful small house across the street from the church with our two pets. CASPIAN
NIA Well, I won't be updating every day, but it will be good to 'think out loud' through xanga on occasion. I think that's about it for now. I'll have more for you later...

| I know its been forever... and I'm fairly certain that no one checks this anymore. This is the reason that I feel comfortable making my '07 world series predictions on my xanga site. This way if I'm wrong, no one will ever know. But if I'm right, then I can prove to Dave & Bixler that I called it!
Cleveland Indians vs. Colorado Rockies... Indians win the series 4-2
Hope all is well if someone does actually read this...
